5 Must Visit Water Parks In Central Florida
Its SUMMER…..& It’s HOT! The kids are off from school and you are scrambling for things to do. I can tell you we just tried out Sea World’s Aquatica and it HIT the spot. I don’t think there are many places in the United States that has such a concentration of HUGE Water Parks as there is in Orlando.
So here is the break down of the VERY BEST Orlando has to offer!
Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park, or Volcano Bay, is a themed water park at Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida. Owned and operated by Universal Parks and Resorts, Volcano Bay replaced Wet ‘n Wild as Universal Orlando Resort’s water park, and it was the first constructed by Universal itself. The park, themed around a 200-foot-tall (61 m) volcano named “Krakatau,” opened on May 25, 2017.
Krakatau is a 200 feet (61 m) tall artificial volcano, and is the park’s main representative, being displayed on the logo. The volcano houses three drop capsule slides, Ko’okiri Body Plunge, the tallest body slide in America ranging at 125 feet tall, and also the first to travel through a pool full of guests. Krakatau also holds the Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides which travel throughout the midst of the volcano winding around the Krakatau Aqua Coaster.
The park uses a wearable under the name TapuTapu for payments and line queues. The wearable is distributed at the entrance at the park, which can be used to hold one’s place in line. TapuTapu allows for payment by linking a credit card through the Universal Orlando app to the wearable, allowing users to pay throughout the park for merchandise, food, and drinks. The wristbands can be used to interact with environmental features, set off water springs, or illuminate lights.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach
Disney legend has it that after a freak winter storm blanketed the area with snow, Florida’s first ski resort was born. When temperatures returned to normal, the powdery snow turned to slippery slush.
Slalom courses, bobsled and toboggan runs became downhill waterslides. The chair lift carried swimmers instead of skiers. The ski jump became the tallest, fastest water slide in the nation.
You are invited to what has become Disney’s Blizzard Beach, the most slushy, slippery, exhilarating water park anywhere!
Typhoon Lagoon has a good 10 or so water slides, including the 2-person rollercoaster raft-like ‘Crush ‘n’ Gusher’. There’s also the ‘Humunga Kowabunga’ with 5 steep drops, as well as the ‘Storm’ and ‘Bay’ slides, which are both a little slower and geared more towards the younger children. Elsewhere, there is a sizeable rapids course looping around the park. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon goes a bit further than just slides though. Surfers will love the ‘Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool’ which generate 6-foot swells from powerful underwater turbines. Ticket holders can also jump in and swim with sharks, stingray and tropical fish at ‘Shark Reef’ – perhaps the park’s best rated attraction.
